Would you like to become a volunteer at Fife House? Our volunteers are an integral part of Fife House. The agency utilizes the services of approximately 300 individuals, contributing over 15,000 hours annually to:

  • Provide service to clients;
  • Assist with administration;
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives and events;
  • Govern and provide strategic direction to Fife House.


To become a volunteer, potential applicants must meet the minimum time commitment (4-6 months), possess the necessary skills and agree with the mission, philosophy and policies of the agency.  Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years of age.  Fife House is committed to encouraging diversity in its volunteer program.

Volunteer Training includes an orientation, AIDS 101, Boundaries Workshop and other sessions as required or requested. Fife House places new volunteers year round.

Volunteering at Fife House requires a minimum time commitment of 4-6 months. Fife House provides service to vulnerable individuals and expends a large amount of resources placing and training new volunteers. Minimum time commitments ensure client comfort and consistent agency operations. Consistent volunteer attendance is required.

Police Reference Checks are required of most volunteers. This process is confidential and paid for by Fife House. The Coordinator of Volunteer Services will assist with this process and answer any questions you may have.

Volunteer Opportunities

Individuals seeking volunteer work to meet requirements for Community Service Credits, whether they be for school (high school, college or university) or Social Assistance are welcome to apply to volunteer for Fife House, but must meet all the requirements for volunteering, including availability, skills, minimum age and especially minimum time commitment. Volunteer applicants are asked to seriously consider their availability and willingness to commit prior to undertaking their volunteer acitivities.
