Runners for Life at TWM 2023

We’re pleased to announce that for the very first time, Fife House is participating in the 2023 Toronto Waterfront Marathon (TWM) Charity Challenge as an official charity partner! We invite you to join us and become a Fife House Runner For Life! The event is an amazing opportunity to hit the pavement – alone or with friends/family/colleagues – and work on your health goals, while helping to fundraise Fife House’s supportive housing programs and services for for people and families living with HIV/AIDS.

The Toronto Waterfront Marathon - Charity Challenge

The Toronto Waterfront Marathon (TWM) is one of Canada’s most popular annual running events! It holds the prestigious role of being a qualifying race for Canadian athletes aiming to compete at international levels, such as the Olympics and the Boston Marathon. The scenic race takes you along the waterfront of Lake Ontario, showcasing our cities iconic landmarks and vibrant neighbourhoods. The in-person Toronto Waterfront Marathon (42K, 21K & 5K distances) will be held in Toronto on October 15th, 2023. For those who prefer a remote participation option, you have the flexibility to complete your run between October 1st and October 31st, 2023. Invite your friends, family or colleagues along because everyone is invited to join in on the excitement! Whether you’re aiming for a personal record or simply looking for a fun and active day with your loved ones, Race Day at the TWM is a vibrant and festive celebration that offers something for everyone. How to get Involved

Whether you’re a frequent runner, or more of a casual walker or roller, this event is open to everyone! You choose the race distance (42km, 21km, or 5km) and pace that you prefer. Regardless of the distance you choose to complete, you can still fundraise for Fife House! As a race participant, you’ll receive awesome perks from the marathon race organizers, including a TWM race souvenir T-shirt, a Finisher’s medal, and a running bib. Plus, you’ll have access to  training programs and resources to help you prepare for the big day.

1. Register

Join our Fife House team: “Runners for Life,” or create your own team. Be sure to register and secure your spot as soon as possible: to have as much time as possible to fundraise and get ready for Race Day on October 15th.

And when you’re ready, click on this referral link to register for the event.  For every participant who registers for the event using this link, Fife House will receive a $5 referral donation! Woohoo!

2. Fundraise

Once you’ve registered for the TWM, it’s time to make your fundraising page truly your own! Personalize it with your own message and photograph, set your fundraising goal, and start fundraising by sharing the link to your personal page with others.

Whether you’re running as part of the Fife House Runners for Life team or as part of your own team, your friends, family &  colleagues can easily support you by donating directly on your fundraising page. It’s a simple and convenient. Online donations of $20 or more made on an individual participant’s fundraising page are eligible for an automatic charitable donation receipt. Fundraising Incentives

To thank you for your support and efforts in fundraising for Fife House at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon, we are happy to offer the following incentives:
  • Fife House would be pleased to reimburse the cost of registration – up to $60 – for participants who fundraise a minimum of $500 for Fife House by the fundraising deadline of November 15.
  • We will also have prizes for the top 3 individuals who fundraise the most donations for Fife House by November 15th. More details of these prizes will be announced at a later date.

3. Prepare

Fife House is partnering with running clinics and groups to support you in preparing for the event so that you don’t have to do it alone. As a Fife House runner in the TWM, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in complimentary running clinics and groups so that you can receive some informal guidance and assistance, make friends and encourage each other in your training journey.

4. Run, Walk or Roll in October

Coming soon: Join us for exciting pre-race festivities that will get you pumped up and ready for the event – whether you’re taking part in the virtual run between October 1 to 31st, or the in-person run on October 15th!

If you’re planning on taking part in the in-person event on October 15th, you are welcome to run/walk/roll with the Fife House team, or complete the course at your own pace. Details of where and when to meet will be shared closer to the event.
